PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Williamsburg Municipal Authority had construction of various upgrades at the wastewater treatment plant to improve operations and comply with more stringent effluent nutrient regulations set forth by the Chesapeake Bay Tributary Strategy. The existing plant was originally constructed in 1939 and needed to be replaced due to ongoing structural and maintenance issues.
PROJECT SOLUTION
Construction of three (3) sequencing batch reactors and associated equipment, a headworks building with fine screens, a new aerobic digester, an ultraviolet disinfection system, and construction of a new control/maintenance building.
SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT AND SERVICES
A rotary sludge dewatering press was installed along with a sludge conveyor. The plant controls were updated to include a SCADA system that allows the operator to more closely monitor the plant performance.
